About
Welcome to The Miami Classical Guitar Society! 2012-2013 proudly marks the 25th Anniversary of The MCGS, who along with the support of guitar enthusiasts, initiated and developed a classical guitar movement central to the city of Miami 25 years ago, establishing South Florida as a hub of international importance for the instrument.

A non-profit 501c3 cultural organization founded in 1987, the MCGS Mission has been to promote the art and appreciation of the Classical Guitar in our community, and to bring guitar lovers the opportunity to enjoy performances by local, national and international world renowned guitarists. Dedicated to enhancing the awareness and education of the classical guitar in our city, we have offered performers, teachers, and students the means to further develop their talents and passion for the classical guitar through our yearly cultural programming of concerts, master classes, lectures, lecture-recitals, guitar courses, ensembles, and competitions.

One of the most thriving guitar societies in the US, the MCGS has brought hundreds of acclaimed guitarists to Miami, directed two of the most prestigious International Guitar Festivals in the country with the Guitar Foundation of America, created the First Guitar Ensemble Festival of Miami, founded Miami's First International Guitar Competition, and held a yearly programing series, among many other educational and social events, for over two decades.

Our initial goal of promoting this beautiful instrument within our city has been fulfilled, and we can now take part in this wonderful cultural experience as in no other time in Miami. Please join us this Season to Celebrate!
